- Today was my first official paid Snow Day EVER! I am so thankful because worse than snow is the solid sheet of ice that currently covers our road.
- I was able to clean out the playroom, and re-organize Zach’s room. He is able to play with all his toys and has a spot to return each. I am so excited as this also puts us closer to beginning our kitchen remodel. I manage to move reduce and reuse everything today so the total cost of this is ZERO.
- After spending most of the day cleaning and organizing we had a family game night. The little kids are now old enough to play UNO. Zach had a hard time at first because he did not win but even asked to play again at bedtime.
- The kids have been out of school at home for a solid week now. Monday was a holiday, Tuesday and Wednesday were scheduled teacher work days,Thursday and Friday, school was cancelled due to the weather.
- This week is also rare in the fact that we have only had cheerleading one night and don’t have a competition to go to this weekend. I know this is probably the last time this happens till April.

5 Things Friday 01/08/2016
- The weather has turned cold here really quickly. On Christmas day it was 74* and today the high was 46*. I really dislike cold.
- Kendall is by far my coldest child. I was so upset at myself to learn last weekend that she really did not have a good coat for her to take to school. I have been having her use a fleece jacket under a “thin” coat for the past week. I am so excited that I was able to find her a pink and purple coat at JCP tonight. I also purchased Matt a pair of jeans. Using coupons and reward points from our purchase of new sheets. I spent a total of $13.83 on both of these items. The sad part is that $8.95 was shipping.
- Our new bed, King size, is scheduled to arrive next Tuesday. I am so excited as we designed our bedroom around a King size bed but were so tired of sleeping on an air mattress that we purchased the Queen size one about 4 years ago. We are doing a major furniture sway next week. Lily is getting our bed, Kendall is getting Lily’s full size bed and Zach is getting a twin bed. Everyone has new sheet and comforters so I will be posting pictures next week.
- Tomorrow is Lily’s first cheerleading competition of the year. I am excited but not excited at the same time. It is a big time consuming task once this season starts. Kendall’s teams is very young and probably will not compete until February or March if at all. We packed both our cheer bags tonight and will be leaving bright and early in the morning.
- Amanda is taking Zach to the Monster Truck show tonight. I really don’t know who was more excited Amanda or Zach. She has been sending me pictures all night and I will share more later, but this is a good end.
Christmas Wrap Up 2015
Amanda was working on Christmas Day so she came over around lunch on Christmas Eve for a gift exchange before we all headed over to Paw Paw’s and Granny’s for the real fun. Amanda purchased all three of the kids’ really cool name wall hangings, a “chip cup” for me and Matt received a Starbuck’s ornament.
We all then headed over to my parents to spend the afternoon and open more gifts. It was an awesome time and the kids played for several hours.
Kendall unfortunately did not want to go to sleep and with the windows open she used ever sound outside to stay awake. She finally fell asleep around 1am and of course was awake prior to 6am. Haley after getting off work came and spent the night with us so she would not miss any of the fun of Christmas morning.

Christmas morning and most of the day was quiet as the kids played with their new toys, Matt sat up the TV in the playroom that Santa brought and we just relaxed. Unfortunately, that all changed because of a fall my mom took. I ended up spending from 4pm to after midnight at the hospital with my parents till my mother shoulder could be relocated. Thankfully after prayer and waiting, her shoulder is back in place and the doctor is fairly confident that she has no other damage.

5 Things Friday
- We decided to go ahead and purchase a new refrigerator. After much thought and some shopping around, we will be rearranging the kitchen and playroom to accommodate a full size refrigerator in addition to the one full size and the drink one we currently have.
- Our November budget is already turning out better than October so as long as something does not pop up we should be back on track with budgeting.
- All three of the kids got excellent report cards and perfect attendance for the first quarter. Lily was more excited about perfect attendance than A honor roll. This is the first time in her school history that she has achieved perfect attendance.
- I am planning to set up the snow village tomorrow if I feel better than I do tonight. Matt has been so generous as to share his cold with me.
- I was bumped from behind today in the van. I am so thankful for the arms of protection that meant a small scratch on the van was all the damage and it did not even really affect my day as I decided not to file an accident report.
Thankful Thursday
I have learned that there is no way that I will remember or have time to post each day even on Facebook what I am thankful for, so I am going to attempt a weekly post for the month of November. My list of things I am thankful for this week…..
1. My personal relationship with Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior. I am also extremely grateful that he understands that I need reminders that he loves and cares for me and is involved in every part of my life.
2. My husband. We have survived high school twice already so things have to get easier the next three times.
3. My job. I am blessed to be working in the professional field that I love and be able to help support my family. I am also extremely bless to at least work at achieving a work home life balance.
4. My kids… yes all 5 of them. I seriously thought about using them to fill up the rest of my list but decided I could needed to find more things to be thankful for. I am still very blessed and thankful to watch EACH one grow and mature. They are special in very unique ways.
5. My new van. I really enjoying driving a vehicle that I trust to get me to and from where I am going. I am also so grateful for the little extra like sunroof and heated seats that I would never placed on a list but they are awesome.
