All Good Things Must Come to an End.
bu Today, Saturday, is the last full day of vacation for us. We will wake up, eat and pack the van in the morning to head back to real life. Monday both Lily and Kendall will start school and Zach will begin his final year at home. I have enjoyed the break and since I am much better at sharing in points, I hope you don’t mind.
Kendall was stung by a jellyfish today as we were out jumping waves. At first, I was not sure what happened because she was crying and saying her legs hurt. But the fish wrapped itself around both of her legs and she has marks from both ankles to the top of her legs. I also was stung on the wrist not sure when but thankful no one else has to suffer. Both Lily and Zach were with us jumping waves at the time it happened.
Each day except for Friday, we have had a severe afternoon thunderstorm, I have been most surprised at the fact that the roads are flooding after each one.
I have been spending a lot of time on the balcony, this week because it allows me to enjoy the sounds, smells and view of the ocean without sand. A summer cold has made it through the family this week so we have been taking afternoon naps and with medicine the kids have been going to bed fairly early so I have sitting outside, reading on the kindle or playing on the computer. While the kids enjoy eating in front of the television, I prefer the ocean!
One of the things that I started to notice each day was the number of photographers and others taking pictures both in the mornings and evening. I decided that we should do one as well. We hit a couple of beach stores on Friday morning and I found the little girls matching dressing. I had brought Zach an outfit with a yellow shirt which matched perfectly! I am so pleased with the way they turned out. I will share more next Wednesday. I hope to use these to redo my coffee table along with some of the huge seashell that we found the first part of the week.
We enjoyed the Pirates Voyage dinner show on Monday and decided due to the weather on Thursday to eat at a seafood buffet. All the little kids love sushi and request to eat it but what we didn’t know was that they also love crab legs! Between the three of them they ate two full plates of crab legs. I love all types of seafood but crab legs are a lot of work especially when you are feeding three other people.
At lunch today, we asked the kids what has been their favorite part of vacation and both the little girls said it was our trip to Build A Bear. At least they can agree on that! So I guess that this have to become part of our vacation tradition. ![10610502_10202680952253900_5150193151480007674_n[1]](http://www.coffeefreakdesigns.com/teenstotsandeverythinginbetween/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/10610502_10202680952253900_5150193151480007674_n1-300x225.jpg)
Random Beach Fun!
Sunday Shopping and Saving 8/17/2014
Today is the first official day of my vacation, but even so I did manage to enjoy both hopping and saving. Because my children, especially Kendall, are early risers we had planned to eat two meals out today. My mother gave me a coupon for Golden Corral, and we made this our first stop this morning. The coupon was for adult breakfast buffets which include your choice of milk, juice or coffee. The hostess also gave us the coupon price for the kid’s buffet as well, which means that all six of us ate for $35. We found a really quick route to the beach and arrive in plenty of time for lunch. Actually, we shopped first because we had so much time. I had printed just in case the coupon for Outback Steakhouse, so we decided to splurge and enjoy this as well. We did end up spending $70 including tip but not bad considering the adults all had steak and the kids ended up finishing their meals for dinner.
We stopped at the Tanger Outlets but only hit a couple of stores. Old Navy advertised an awesome sale and we were excited to find lots of items on the $5 tables however over half of these items did not ring up for $5 so we left disappointed. I picked up several polo shirts for Zach and a pair of jeans as well. The Disney Store was the kids choice, each of the three little kids has been saving money and doing extra chores for the past two months and were excited to purchase some toys today. I was able to take advantage of the $10 pajama sale for all three little kids and myself. Matt found a cool shirt for under $10 so in the end, everyone was happy!
I had planned on saying this was going to be our most expensive day, however we are going to a dinner theater tomorrow evening. I have already purchased the ticket so it is budgeted and covered but still really expensive!

10 Things Tuesday -8/5/2014
This is my favorite way of catching up with all the tidbits, so I hope you enjoy!
1. JCPenny’s sent me a $15 reward for my birthday, so I combined with a coupon they also sent to purchase a Liz Claiborne polo shirt and a sports bra for $8.32! SCORE!
2. My square foot garden had started looking really sad and dead but after removing all the squash plants, all but a couple of my bean plants and lots of dead branches from the tomato’s it is finally looking much better. We are still getting just a few tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers. We have enjoy a watermelon and cantaloupe as well. I am holding out hope that with our recent wetter weather we will get a decent sweet potato harvest in late October.
3. Someone at work or a patient brought in a table full of tomatoes, corn, cucumbers and cantaloupe. After realizing, that three days later, most of the remaining tomatoes would not last over the weekend, I brought them home and made salsa. It honestly is the best salsa I have ever made. I was able to use the crock pot and froze several batches for use this winter.
4. My work has finally slow down a bit. I have been able to enjoy going into work around 10am for several days the last couple of weeks. This has given me a chance to work on “school” with the kids. Zach is working on recognizing both letters and numbers. Kendall is work on money and her pencil grip and Lily is focusing on math skills and keyboarding.
5. The girls have really enjoyed piano lessons this summer and both are doing well. The teacher who is also a friend at our church has decided to continue this fall! The only downfall is finding some wiggle room in our budget.
6. We have been able to eat at home without going to the store or out to eat for 5 days! I hope we can continue this trend.
7. I spent some time this weekend organizing pictures. I have actually been able to get the pictures from 2014 organized. I would love to find a way to print pictures on a regular basis, Any suggestions?
8. I have been able to exercise 3 time last week and I off to a good start for this week. I am continuing to loss weight and my next milestone is 50 pounds!
9. Both Kendall and Lily started in cheerleading last night. Kendall really liked it but it was “a lot of work”
10. We are having some crazy summer weather, but at least Matt and the kids enjoyed a morning at the park!
Wordless Wednesday- County Swim Meet
10 Things Tuesday 7/22
Not sure if Carla is going to post this today but I wanted to get ahead of the game and I simply LOVE this format for catching up!
1. My BFF is enjoying a week at the beach, she had a hard time finding someone to take care of her dog so the little kids are dog sitting for the week.
2.This week and next week should be the slowest of the summer! Swim team is over and the currently plan is to start cheerleading the first full week of August.
3.Both Lily and Kendall are enjoying piano lessons but neither likes to practice! I am very impressed with how quickly they are picking up the skills.
4. I did finish the reorganization of the office, playroom and our closet last week. Total spent was $27 but the difference is huge! I totally feel like my closet is finished now!
5. On Sunday, I spent most of the afternoon, sorting our recipes. I filled a 3inch 3 ring binder with recipes we like and really want to make again or several times, a second 1 inch binder with “stockpile” or make ahead recipes and a third binder with recipes that I have printed from the internet and want to try.
6.Zach finished swim lesson but still does not like to jump into the pool. He did tell our swim coach that he was planning to swim on the team next year so we shall see. I am glad that he is able to go underwater now and is a little bit more comfortable without arm floats.
7.Because of the odd weather we have been having, dry and huge temperature swings, I had to throw out our squash and about half of our bean plants already. We are able to harvest tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers on a regular basis still.
8. We were all excited to realize that currently we have 3 watermelons and 2 cantaloupes growing so far. I am guess we should be able to eat one of each in the next week or so!
9.July is one of two months that I receive 3 paychecks in the month. It has really helped to cover not only our beach trip but also to set aside money for cheerleading fees for the girls.
10. We saw “Planes Fire and Rescue” on Saturday, the kids really enjoyed it but it definitely is not on my favorites list!
