Budget Post 12/21/2013

Matt will be finishing up the final Christmas present today! I am excited to report that we have really reduced/maintained our spending this Christmas!  I know that the kids will not miss extra stuff and in additional there will be no worries as to how we need to adjust for January.

One of the new things I am trying is a financial journal. Each day I am trying to keep up with exact where we are in regards to spending and plans for extra money. I am most excited that we are still on track to end the year even! I even have a little extra money. But I want to hold on to this to make sure that everything arrives as it should!

I have moved the hair fund to an envelope  but it has not been fully funded yet but we have used for petty cash and it is much easier this way.

We only have $50 left in our gas fund for two weeks, we ended up with an oil change and new wiper blades out of this fund. I think we should be okay as we just filled both vehicles this week and with Christmas our driving will be minimal!

I am going to borrow a couple of items to start including in my budget post from Carla

A few things I saved on this week: Harris Teeter trip purchased 5 12 packs of Diet Coke, 2 jars of pickles, 2 cans of frosting and 2 12 packs of toilet paper for $23.07

My budget fail this week: Doing great so far!

  1. Sounds great!! 🙂 I’ve been very faithful to my financial journal and it’s going well! Although tonight I had to pay $140 for 2 prescriptions and literally dropped $30+ on popsicles and “easy snacks” for the kids while they’re sick… *blush*
